Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series: A detailed review

Samsung, the leading manufacturer of laptops all over the world, has introduced their newest product at the CES, 2011. This product was such that everyone swept off their feet. It is their sliding PC which they have named as the Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series. This product looks like a tablet, but it’s not a tablet at all. Actually, in its closed state it looks and acts completely like a Tablet running Windows 7, but slide the screen up and out and you will be surprised to see that it’s a completely usable notebook computer with a full sized keyboard and track pad.

This amazing laptop from Samsung has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and sport a 10.1-inch (1366 x 768), 340-nit, multi-touch display. The Sliding PC 7, which will weigh in at 2.2 pounds, will be powered by the upcoming Intel Atom Oak Trail processor, which clocks in at 1.66 GHz. It will also feature 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, a 32 GB or 64 GB solid state drive, a USB 2.0 port, a 4-in-1 memory card reader, HDMI out, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It runs a full version of Windows 7 Premium with Microsoft’s Touch UI. This laptop will be released by March, 2011.

Between the six-cell lithium-polymer battery and Samsung's Eco Light Sensor, which can conserve energy and adjust screen brightness based on available lighting, Samsung claims the Sliding PC 7 has a battery life of approximately nine hours. There will also be optional 3G connectivity available for the Samsung Sliding PC 7. The 10.1-inch mini-laptop has a striking design, and has a multi touch screen so it can operate in both tablet and Net book like format. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and has features like GPS and a digital compass. Moreover, the webcam is also at the back and at the front.

The keyboard is almost full laptop sized and you will be happy to know that it has full size right shift key, something missing in all Asus net books. The shiny chiclet keys have smooth finish and it feels wonderful. So, it is being already said that this new laptop from Samsung will give a tough competition to Asus net books. It all begins with a stylish soft-grip case that provides a comfortable, secure grip which prevents fingerprints. Another thing that will interest you is that your data will completely be safe with security features that include pre-boot authentication and TPM.

Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series is a must buy product if you like new innovations and cool looks. With all the applications it has, this laptop will also be a great option for those who work with various applications. The only thing that you should be careful of is the way you handle this Samsung laptop. This is because the screen is left unprotected most of the time unless you put it in a case, but as far as the slider goes, it feels solid. It automatically slides open once you start pushing the screen. So, go and give it a try. It’s worth trying.
